One Step Forward, Two Steps BackA Warhammer: Invasion card of the week
Source : Fantasy Flight GamesThe vile taint spreads like wildfire, consuming everything until no purity remains. None are safe from the temptations of corruption, for it is not some outward foe that can be met with blade and shield, but the recognition of the hidden lusts and desires that nestle in every being’s soul.Welcome back to the
Warhammer: Invasion card of the week spotlight, in which we highlight a new upcoming card every week! It’s November, and that means we have another installment of
The Enemy Cycle to look forward to.
Last week, we drank the murky waters of the
Tainted Well, and we saw how it can be used to deal serious damage in a corruption-heavy deck. This week, the taint spreads to a place even more vital than your water supply... your very soul.
Thematically, corruption represents a character succumbing to his baser instincts and becoming incapacitated with fear, lust, rage, pain, insanity, or some other debilitating condition. Certain powerful effects like
Effulgent Boils can make this state permanent, but for the most part it’s only temporary. A character can journey inward and seek redemption, becoming “restored” as early as the start of the next turn. But what if there is no relief to be found? What if the sources of purity and redemption are themselves corrupted? What will stop the spread of corruption then?
Corruption of Purity is a Destruction-only neutral Tactic that exemplifies this unsettling scenario. Played in response to restoring effects like
Blessing of Isha and
Courage of Aenarion, it will set your opponent back in his attempts to combat corruption. What’s more, Dark Elf players will find a new control combo when Corruption of Purity is coupled with
Chillwind.
Keep watching store shelves, since
The Fourth Waystone will arrive in about two weeks. In the meantime, check back next time for another
Warhammer: Invasion card of the week!
